Frogs
- Question
- Hi.
I would like to know if a CF child could eat frogs and snails, knowing that these animals live in water. I think that a large cooking time for snails kills germs but maybe it works much less for frogs?
Thank you.

- Dear Questionner,
There is a priori no contra-indication that your child eats snails and frogs if that makes her/him happy.
You have just to follow a few rules of hygiene in the preparation (and also for any meat, fish, shellfish ... and regardless of whether or not to have CF) :
- wash your hands before you start cooking;
- wash aliments before preparing;
- cook them in a clean environment and using clean utensils;
- eat only animals purchased commercially or "pick" alive (never eat dead animals collected).
You can cook food, including frogs and snails, as usual cooking time.
Finally, about snails, if you prepare yourself: remember to clean the inside of the shell (by passing under water) before putting the flesh of snails inside.
I hope that I have helped you.
