laundry care
- Question
- Hello,
we add a disinfectant in the washing machine. Is a disinfectant with ecological standard EN1040 (A Summer in Provence - Ecodoo®) sufficient or is it better to use a product like Sanytol®, EN1276 standard but dangerous for the environment?
Thank you - Answer
- Hello
This question about laundry disinfection is common and you will surely not be the last asked.
Wadhing at a temperature above 60 ° C and adding a detergent,
bacteria and viruses do not resist, and a disinfectant whichever will do nothing more in terms of disinfection.
On the other hand, if you wash your clothes at 30 ° C or 40 ° C, a disinfectant or the use of a dryer (not dangerous for the environment) or ironing (not dangerous for the environment) will eliminate some germs still present.
To my knowledge there is no case of bacterial colonization of a person with cystic fibrosis from clean but non-disinfected clothes.
If the laundry to be washed is lightly soiled, the interest of a disinfectant seems limited or even useless.
I invite you to contact your CF Center to discuss the influence on your health or that of your child.
I just hope I have answered your questions.
