Salty child = Cystic Fibrosis?

Question
My daughter, 1 year old, tasts ever since strikingly salty. After heavy sweating, her head sometimes glitters. Are there any other illnesses or "normal people" who show this phenomenon or is that a conclusive hint for CF?
Answer
Hello,
indeed the "salty taste" is always reported to be a typical sign for CF. Of course, the illness cannot be proved by this. However, if this strikes you so much, your pediatrician should make an appoinment for a sweat test at a CF Center. In case your child should indeed suffer from Cf, it would be important, to start a treatment as soon as possible.
But also in case there is no CF underlying, it would make sense in for you to calm down and that you do not have to worry anymore.
With my best regards,
