Salty body
- Question
- I am 58 years old. About two years I have awfully salty body. Even in my eyebrows, I have salt crystals.
- Answer
- Dear questioner,
Cystic fibrosis is not a disease "typical" for a certain age. It is genetically determined, and a man is born with it. It is only a question of the extent of genetic changes as and when the disease appears.
You didn´t wrote, if you have other symptoms typical for CF (frequent respiratory tract infections, malnutrition and others).
I don´t think that you have a so called classic type of CF which is diagnosed in early childhood.
In suspicion of CF it is necessary to contact the CF Center.
General physician sends you to a specialist in the CF center (in Slovakia in Bratislava, Banská Bystrica, Košice).
The patient will be invited to undergo special investigation (first of all sweat test). On the basis of the clinical status and obtained results next steps will followed. The final decision allows for genetic testing. It is appropriate to seek the assistance of specialists.
