Cystic Fibrosis and kidney

Question
Dear expert team,

Is there a relation between renal function and Cystic Fibrosis? I have heard that CF can be cured by doing special cleaning and lavage of the kidneys. I myself do not believe in this, however I would like to hear your advice. Thank you in advance.
Answer
Hello,

It would be nice if CF could be cured by doing lavages.

The kidneys are not directly affected by CF, however, they can be damaged by chronic infections and therapies (some antibiotics). Drinking a lot [e.g. water] is in most cases good for our kidneys (and most of the people do not drink enough) – since this helps the kidneys to eliminate harmful substances; also drugs that one has to take.
