inhalers
- Question
- Hello,
I would like to buy for my child a portable inhaler, which of the inhlares accessible in the market is good for CF patients?
I admit, that I wouldn't like to buy a very expensive inhaler. The child is 9-year-old and has hypertonic salt and pulmozyme inhalations. - Answer
- Dear questioner,
In general it has to be said that a range of devices are available in different countries. You can take HTS and DNASE through all the systems. There is absolutely no consensus on the best "nebulsier device" and this is currently decided based on various factors including patient preference, local availability and access, knowledge about device, cost as well as published evidence on its use. As a rule, no device does fit all! Therefore it is very important for you and other parents to talk with your CF team about the choice of system. They will be able to advise on a system taking into account cost, availablity of consumables (e.g. mouthpieces chambers, tubing etc), use and research done in CF medications (flow rates, delivery medications etc) , servicing needs of device, portability of device and battery pack. They will also be able to advise specific cleaning recommendations for CF.
We in our CF center, recommend PARI BOY SX inhaler - this is a very good nebulizer. To gain more information about the stores, which offer the best price for CF patients, please contact MATIO Foundation: tel. 12 292 31 80, e -mail address: krakow@mukowiscydoza.pl.
Total price for the inhaler in the store, including shipment costs, is PLN 850,00 (NFZ reimbursement PLN 600,00). In the stores different types of inhalers are accessible (more expensive and cheaper ones), depending on your financial situation, but PARI BOY SX inhaler is optimal with respect to price and quality.
Best regards, MATIO Foundation for CF Families and Patients
