In a dental office, the transmission of an infectious agent or virus can occur in three different situations:
- From patient to patient via the hands of the person who provides care or instruments and work surfaces contaminated
- From the patient to the person who provides care
- From the person who provides patient care
In his daily work in the oral cavity, the dentist must have a constant concern of strict asepsis. Each patient will be considered as carrier of transmissible agents. To stop the transmission path, the dentist uses the cleaning, disinfection, sterilization, increased disposable supplies (hand hygiene related thereto also by washing and disinfection).
No action may waive this rule and the whole organization of the practice depends on this concept.
In this context, you can trust your practitioner.
However, you can tell your dentist that you are suffering from cystic fibrosis, as you may have to do with other health professionals.
On your side, the arrival and departure of the practice, you can perform a hand washing or rubbing with a hydroalcoholic solution.
